Why open source works
Mozilla to pay bounty on bugs
It never fails to amaze me that people continue to bitch & moan and claim that open-source software "won't be supported" and that there's "no-one to go to if a bug/flaw/hack crops up". Bullshit. There are probably an order of magnitude more people out there to go to than with a standard company, where you can only go to their tech support number, which _might_ get back to you if they feel like it. With open-source, everyone wants their shit to work, because they wrote it and put all their unpaid, 'I'm doing this because I want to' time into it.
When critical security errors crop up in IE, they sometimes get fixed within a month. When security errors crop up in Mozilla, they get a fix out the next day.
