A great speech. Unfortunately I doubt any of those 'in charge' will pay it any real heed. Also interesting that its closing words were nearly duplicated in Star Wars: Episode 3, as the Galactic Senate confers more and more power on Chancellor Palpatine.
Lucas has claimed that he wrote it 30 years ago, and was referencing the same Roman Senate that this speech references, but it's just as applicable now.
